So this morning we took Topher to the vet to get neutured and declawed this morning. It's so weird, animals like have a 6th sense about these things. Usually, he's all cuddled up with us while we sleep but when we woke up this morning he would stay away from us. And usually when we go out he runs up to us and starts crying as if to say "Don't go! Dont leave me!" Today he was running away from us. Keith and I literally had to chase him around the house to get him. Then, we got to the vet and it was like he knew where he was, he FREAKED! He cried, he try to pry out of me it was so sad :( . Then, we had to say goodbye and leave. I cannot believe how attached they grow on you. It felt like I was leaving my crying child on its first day of preschool or something. So now I am just sitting here, thinking about him. Hoping he's alright and not lonely being in a vet all night and that he wont hate me for taking away his manhood and claws. I dont get to pick him up until tomorrow afternoon... i miss my baby :(

awwwwww Stina... :( I don't know how you feel, but I've had several friends who have done the same with their pets, and they've all felt the same I think!! Corey has a dog, but he stays out at my Mom/Dads who bought him for Corey because they have 40 acres and he's a Springer..not really good for a house in town..he needs/wants to run...he spends a lot of time with Corey tho, and we love him! :) Bet you can't wait to go get Topher in the morning...I'm sure he will have 'forgiven' you by then, and be SO happy to see you!!! Hang in there! :) M.

dogs are so much easier. Neither of mine were bothered at all when I dropped them off at the vet for their operations, they just walked off with the tech waggin the tail, happy that anyone is paying attention to them.

And then the next day they're just sooooooo happy to be getting out of that horrible horrible place they're just all smiles when I went to pick them up :) Dogs are strange animals, not nearly as spiteful as cats are ;)

He'll be fine tho, just get him some treats or a can of tuna, he'll love you again

I felt exactly the same when I had my dog spayed. She also had to stay in overnight. I couldnt sleep that night worrying about her and thinking of her in a horrible cage instead of in my bed! lol.

I think it depends on the animal...I had a cat who had to endure vet visits at least every other month for over two years while she had a renal condition and she absolutely loved going to the vet. They all knew her and paid her lots of attention, coddled her and she didn't even peep about having to have blood and urine samples taken. I'll never forget at one visit seeing two scared dobermans both trying to climb on their owner's lap to be comforted though.... it made me laugh that here they were...two big bruisers and my little 6 pound kitty was calmly snoozing in her kitty duffel bag... :luv::P

We just got back from the vet with Topher and the veterinarian didnt want to give him back lol. The receptoinist told us that she has been holding him all day and has gotten tonnes of attention since his surgery. She said once he woke up from it, he right away started playing with this toy mouse and ate and has been perfectly fine. She even let him keep the toy mouse lol. He's already running around the house like a lunatic again. Its actually kinda funny watching him trying to jump on the couch then falling cause he has no claws. It's so great to have him back!

Awww. That's great that he is home safe and he still loves you. Pets know when you are going to take them to the vet or when you have to do something that is for the best. Casper was my little white toy mutt and he got very sick. He was already 16 with a heart murmur and couldn't walk anymore or bark. My parents thought that putting him down was for the best but I was going to take him alone. He knew what would happen. When I was waiting for the doctor to prepare, I held my baby and he nuzzled my chin as I cried. He was saying goodbye and he will be fine. Then the doctor came and Casper was gone. It was the hardest decision for me but it ended his suffering and I know my little angel is watching me from heaven now.
