hey guys..i'm left with the burden to purchase my ticket to the US..well of course using HIS money..lol :P

we don't intend to use any credit card in doing so..he prefers to pay it in cash instead, for reasons i really am not sure of..but right now i care less about it. well i looked through online: NWA, HA, PAL and some other sites. i have compared prices and i found great deals from a few airlines. i just don't know how to go about buying the ticket and paying it in cash since i'm used to paying through card.

can anyone guide me through this? i'm from cebu and there isn't much of a choice in airlines out here..i'm really interested on the CEB-LAS flight deal from hawaiian airlines. it's really cheap compared to PAL which is almost 1000 USD one way!!! can anyone help me? ..or maybe at least give me hawaiian airlines number in manila? :(

i remember, there was once a thread on this and there was one member who i guess owns or works in a travel agency that offers great deals..i tried to look for the thread but to no avail, i failed..

so can somebody please guide me through? :(

i'm thinking of buying the ticket this october 24th and i'm looking at a flight set this november, maybe 2nd or 3rd week.

I choose PAL for my fiance.

The main reason is there are PAL offices all over PI, and if she had to do a ticket change or flight change she can find a local office.

I found a better deal on American Airlines straight from PI to Dallas via Japan.

That's my story.

true, PAL has lots of outlet here in PI but my main concern is, their prices are starting to soar HIGH. i saw this great deal at hawaiian airlines, hopefully, i'm booking a flight with them..

but do they have an office or outlet here in cebu?

or can anyone tell e who i can contact to purchase ticket from?

was that NIMFA here in VJ?

Claudeth went to a travel agent in CDO and got her ticket from Cebu to LAX. It was about $150 less than what I could find so I just gave her the money. I set her up with an ATM card so the cost to transfer funds to her was $1.50.

I know that ticket prices are way up so it is very wise to shop around! Good luck

Why don't you call travel agencies compare price some travel agencies offers good deal too. I did purchased my ticket at Travelex(metrobank building fuente osmena) you can pay in credit card or cash then you can ask for discount if you qualified for a first time immigrant.

is PAL the ONLY airlines offering the 20% discount? hawaiian ailines got good deals..dont they have the 20%discount too? lol

my wife received the First time immigrant discount when she flew PAL back in '07. i haven't heard of other airlines offering similar discount. I also picked PAL for ease of transfer since she was flying from Davao to SFO. SFO was her final destination, it also was her POE. it made her alittle more comfortable going thru immigration and customs knowing I was in the arrival area.

whoah whoah whoah! MJ3lasvegas: please tell your fiance to hold off on that purchase. I am a travel agent. Now your fiance would end up paying more if he purchased the ticket from his end. At the back of my mind, I was wondering why he is adamant about buying the ticket himself - in cash... hmmm. I smell apprehension over money here. But anyway that is beside the point.

Here are what I would do:

1. Check out round trip tickets (you will save A LOT on this deal - one way would cost at least USD2800 and RT promos would be about USD1500). You may opt to reschedule the return flight or just cancel it and get a refund.

2. Buy your ticket here because it is half less than what he would get! This means your fiance will have to wire the money to you. Use Moneygram or Western Union or Xoom, I don't care. Just buy it here. Reason - again is saving hundreds of $.

3. If you need help getting the lowest deal, get in touch with me. I can get you the lowest in the market.

Take care and I am so happy for your K1 process. God bless!

Although most people buy tickets online these days, it's still possible in the Philippines to buy them through a walk in travel agency using cash. Yes they do still exist!

My wife bought a one way ticket from MNL to LAX in a travel agency in Cagayan de Oro for the equivalent of $600 or thereabouts. Using online agents like travelocity or orbitz I was quoted $800 for essentially the same ticket. We were looking for a ticket without flexible options. Perhaps you can find a better deal if your travel options and dates are more flexible than ours was.

You can always buy them directly from PAL also, but PAL aren't going to inform you whether another airline has cheaper tickets! There are many connecting flights between Cebu and Manila if that turns out to be the cheaper option.

Most US banks will not charge for wire transfers if they are done online. However, some Philippine banks will charge for receiving wire transfers even if they do nothing to receive that! Western Union is always an option, but their rates are pretty awful. I only use them in case of emergency, like money needed at very short notice.

he wants me to buy the ticket in cash here since he wants us to save, considering that when he tried to book one for me, the prices of one-way fare to LAS was way soooooooooooooooo high. so we decided to buy it here instead. delbros has already sent me a text informing me of my visa dispatch (just last night - so YES, i didn't get any good sleep, i was too overwhelmed by the good news!). hopefully if the visa arrives this week, im buying my ticket right after i receive it.

BTW, i'm on IR1 visa. he ain't my fiance, he's my husband already :innocent:

we tried to call destinations specialist (SM branch). they we able to offer us a good deal through hawaiian airlines from manila cebu and they suggested on booking a separate flight for cebu-manila since they said it's cheaper..i donnu if this is true..but yes, i'm still open for options as to where to purchase my ticket..do you have a landline where i can reach you? what travel agency you from so at least i could stop over and we could talk..

PAL have high fare rates, i already called them last week and they quoted one-way ticket to LAS for almost 1000 USD (998 USD to be exact). they said it was their cheapest and i was like, the cheapest? this is almost the same price i paid when i went to LA last year for a round trip ticket! :crying:

OK, here's the receipt for my wife's one way ticket from MNL to LAX paid for in cash. As I said $600. Watch out for unscrupulous travel agents on VJ posting stories about greatly inflated $2400 one way tickets (unless your flying first class!). This was purchased through a walk in travel agency in the Philippines and not through PAL. The agent told her she could have had a cheaper ticket on a different day, but we wanted to meet in LAX on that Friday.
