aloha all,

first of all, thank you to this visajourney and all the people who make it work....truely amazing.

anyhow, here it goes - so i get the 129f mailed in in early may, get the noa1, and now settle in for a bit of waiting.

so, being in love and all, i will be going to visit my sweety in late-july. what i want to know is this; is it possible to pop into the embassy in bangkok and pick up a "package 3" so as to just get it in hand as opposed to waiting for snail-mail?

also as note - i dont know if package 3 is the correct term, but whatever the package that is intended for my fiance(beneficiary) is called. also, my fiance is cambodian, so i understand that it would have to go from bangkok to phnompenh - which i am sure could take some time. i also got the impression from the site that this particular package goes from her embassy directly to her. my brother, who i am following under a similar circumstance(cambodian fiance), says that this package came to him.

to be honest, she will need my assistance with any paperwork, so my time spent there should be used effectively as possible.

so than, long story short, i-129f received in early may. me in thailand/cambodia late july - is there anything i can do by showing up at the embassy just to move things along/save time waiting for snailmail.

again, mahalo to everyone here.

DECEMBER 2003 - Our eyes met......Best Friends!

OCTOBER 25, 2005 - Engaged to marry.

MAY 5, 2006 - I-129 K-1 Package mailed.....

MAY 8, 2006 - I-129 Package received.....

MAY 17, 2006 - Check cleared.....

MAY 22, 2006 - NOA#1 (receipt notice) received in mail.....

SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION - after my wife made it to the USA, family emergency neccesatated her immediate return to her home in cambodia. unfortunately before she was able to adjust her status, thus the case was abandanded. we now are filing both k-3 (married in usa) and have petioned both i-129f and 1-130 .....so, our "journey" has once again began. thank you for all your help and understanding - appleegg and sreyon.

appleegg,

Hi,

I have been living in Cambodia for years, was hoping to be able to do my K1 processing here. I was told in 2005 I could, then went to USA for xmas. Arriving back in March, was informed that Phnom Penh no longer handles immigrant visas and I would have to ask permission to go through BKK as I am Australian ( Cambodians all have to go to BKK they have additional info on the consulates website for that)

I don't know that anyone can receive pkt3 preceeding NOA2, but what I can tell you is that when I checked the BKK website to see my options, I read that BKK embassy will NOT post any documents to Cambodia due to high MIA / theft . They will post PKT 3 to the PETITIONER!! ( it said to allow up to one month) who is responsible for getting it to the beneficiary, who then fills it in and mails to BKK. Pkt 4 , will then be sent to the petitioner ( another month) who must fwd it to the fiancee. ( the same process for any RFE's)

So, I suggest you get on to the BKK website, at least so you can co-ordinate your holidays with the timelines of BKK. If you were in Cambodia after NOA2 stage , you could probably do a trip to BKK , walk in and pick up your pkt 3..save you months of snail mail. Anyway I decided to heck with it...Ill go to Sydney, I dont want all the time delays. I realize this is your only option. I don't know if your fiancee has a passport yet, best she get moving on that too. She'll need to go to BKK for the interview. And she's probably going to need you to go with.

good luck

You can't get packet 3 before NOA2 - NOA2 is the petition approval - and the consulate won't have a CLUE who you are until after that - so I'm presuming you just want to get the forms in the packet 3 so you can assist your finacee filling them in? Obviously neither of you can send them in until NVC has sent your case to the embassy (you need the reference number they generate). If that is the idea then honestly I don't know - some of the forms are downloadable - have you checked the website for that embassy?

Also you are going thru CSC so it could be a little while before you get the NOA2.

Best of luck to you :)

It is possible that the consulate will not give you the forms without knowing who you are. However, if you were to show them your NOA1 original, perhaps that would be sufficient for them to give you the package. You don't get what you don't ask for, as the saying goes!

The typical forms that your fiancee will need are shown on this VJ web page. Note that the DS-157 is only required for males, so it shouldn't apply in the case of your fiancee.

You can download at least some of these forms from this web site.

Click on the "Department of State" link to get the "DS" forms, and the "USCIS Forms" link to get the I-134.

Best of luck,

G
