No, filing for EAD is not required. Even for your wife it isn't. It is actually just a temporary thing because once she gets her green card she is authorized to work too. However, it is wise to do so because some AOS cases do take a lot of time to get approved. EAD is free when filed concurrently so why not filing for it.

SSA only issues SSN to those who are work authorized, K-1 is K-2 is NOT. Either apply for EAD for the K-2, or simply wait for green-card before applying for SSN.

Note The K-2 becomes work auth when they get Green-card, GC is also an employment permit, so what is the problem getting them an EAD?

SO ARE YOU SAYING THAT I DON'T HAVE TO PAY EAD FEE ($340) IF I FILE THE I-485 ($1,010) TOGETHER WITH THE I-765.

Yes. By the way, what is the reason you want your kids to have SSN. Don't you think that can wait for half a year? Your kids will definitely be eligible for SSN once they have their Green cards. As far as I know for most services parents can apply with their SSN so I don't think you need it right away.
