Evidence of Legal Admission

As part of my Adjustment of Status, I've been asked to submit evidence of legal admission (I-94 or other document).

I originally entered without a visa, as I can do as a Canadian. I recall reading somewhere where someone simply wrote a letter explaining my situation and status and why I lack documentation in that regard.

Does anyone know if that will suffice?

Canadians are not required to have a visa to enter the US, so we're not generally given exit/entry forms. USCIS adjudicators know this, if one of them has specifically requested it, they're on crack If ou rec'd a form letter, its just a form letter that everyone gets, and probably even a verbal reminder that you were not required to have an entry record would suffice.

Or you could print off the form from the website (DoS I think) that says Canadians don't get I-94s when they enter.

How did you enter? I entered by air and thank god I saved my ticket because that helped.
