N-400 5 Year Resident requirements

Hi All,

This is a great forum. The information found in here is invaluable. I’m filing an application for citizenship (N-400) based on five year lawful resident requirement.

My two questions are:

1) The person in the application is divorced. Do I need to include marriage and divorce certificates in the application? Even if I’m filing based on the five year permanent residency requirement?

2) I read in the instructions that if you are requesting citizenship based on marriage after 3 years you have to include tax returns. Do I need to include tax return for the last five years if the application is based on the five year permanent residency requirement? I did not find this answer in the forum or the instructions for the form.

I filed my N400 based on 5 yrs. I included my decree with my application but not the tax return. It didn't say I should. It's only for the 3-3-3, I believe.
