I think that would be your interpretation of what you think you read, Dev.

Obvs I am not alone, or else it wouldn't have made Obama retract it....

Yeah, not everyone took it the way it was meant to be taken. Hence he had to explain...

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Stop it. You're confusing me. It's not my fault; I was born that way.

totally. The words are not interchangeable but people are using them as such...

Accusations of elitism in the media regarding Barack Obama are based on a false premise. His comments about "bitter people" might be described as snobbish. They aren't elitist.

If Obama was an elitist - I suspect he'd be pushing for the right of the rich (for example) to rule.

I disagree.

'

He said 'they cling to their guns & religion' - he spoke with a perception that he/Dems are better than them....thereby making him an elitist.

What you're describing there is snobbery. Of two kinds actually - as its also somewhat snobbish to use a "high sounding" word where a simple one will do.

In political terms - elitism is about rule by a privileged few.

So looking at it the right way, neither McCain nor Obama are elitists.

Moving on.

It's confusing - 2 threads, same topic!

Anyhow, as I said over there....

but he himself can be(is, IMO) an elitist - politics aside.

If indeed he believes that government should be solely represented by people who think like him.
