I have a fast and small question "Does the embassy ask for the passport for the interview for K-1 visa. In case if they do then they keep it with them during the security checks performed on the applicant or not"?

yes they do keep passports and return this is up to them....,yes and they ask for passport this should be written on ur interview letter in end about bringing you passport yes they do keep it during security checks and deliverd to u with visa after done with security checks...they can return u passport and can say come back later with passport when we will call...thats up to them really
