I have a question for people who already took N-400 interview.

I got my green-card based on marriage.

In this case, do I have to bring my husband when I take my N-400 interview?

Ha, with my wife's interviewer, was more important for her to bring a piece of paper with both our names on it than seeing me there live and in person.

Probably not. Our experience was the same as several others who have reported here; we went to the waiting area together, but they didn't allow the US Citizen spouse to go in to the interview area. They weren't interested in seeing the spouse, only the one who was being naturalized.

The paperwork does NOT request that you both come to the interview together. They DO want to see tax returns, and perhaps other documents showing a shared life.

Nobody knows in advance just what they'll want to investigate for a particular case. But talking to the US citizen spouse isn't common, and if they want to do it, I'm guessing it would probably be because they had some doubts about the bona fide nature of the relationship.

Thank you for your response.

I actually prepared joint tax return (past 3 years), our car loan, our bank statement, our rent agreement, etc (both my name & my husband name on ).....

Then, I asked you such a question.

As I took a look at your comment, it seems I don't have to take my husband to there. Thanks!

my husband even did not go with me, the officer who interviewed me never mentioned if he was with me at the intreview or anything like that. I think if you have already received your ten years green card, your husband does not need to come with you at the interview, if you still waiting for the ten yrs greencard, u need to bring him with you. Correct me if im wrong. Good luck!

Did read that the USC spouse is not allowed to go in with the interviewee during the interview, believe that was in the M-476 manual. But did not read that the interviewer is not permitted to wave back if the USC spouse waves when the interviewee points and says, that is my spouse when the interviewer goes into the waiting room to call on the interviewee.

I was helpful to my wife in giving her moral support, going over the 96 questions twice in the drive over there, and knowing which back roads to take for road construction to get her there on time. But most important to let her relax.

She is still intimidated by walking into that building with eight armed guards waiting to examine her, but I relax her as I love to tease with them. She did set off the alarm, instantly said it was her earrings, ha, watch out for those earrings.

Still not sure why they are there, perhaps if the interviewers were a bit more reasonable, wouldn't need them is the only reason that I can think of. And really was never tempted to walk off with a folding chair. When I was in the Venezuelan airport, was loaded with these baby boys dressed in fatigues carrying clubs, perhaps not as bad as carrying guns, but perhaps equally intimidating to some.

If your husband can help you relax, ask him to come along.
