Old Man McCain: "The Supreme court should overturn Roe v. Wade ... Please have no doubt about my commitment"

Question,

Since 1973 when Roe v Wade was handed down, there have been 8 elections held. Out of those 8 elections how many were won by a President calling himself "pro-choice"? I say this because I find it interesting that a pro-life stance is somehow being described as a negative thing for a candidate.

I'm opening myself to attack, but w/e, I've said it before on here.

I am 100% pro-life. However, I think overturning Roe v Wade might possibly be one of the worst things that could happy (legally speaking) in this country. I don't think there's a way to turn back the clock on this one. And while I may be pro-life (don't call me anti-choice...I'm all for a woman's right to choose, but I still think it's murder) I don't think returning to the dark alley, dirty instrument days before RvW is the answer. And I don't think the government belongs in anyone's reproductive business, any more than I think they should say gays can't unite and gain benefits.

WHY DON'T I HAVE A POLITICAL PARTY TO FOLLOW?!?!?!? :)

No, there isn't. The ironic thing about this issue is that politically it has had the opposite affect of what it should have. The Roe v Wade issue has been a goldmine for Republican Presidential Candidates. For 20 of the last 28 years Republicans have run against Roe V Wade and won, yet it still sits there, untouched. I tell you, we don't want this overturned!

Until Roe V Wade came along, Democrats were doing just fine at winning elections. This is because they didn't have to write off the Southern bible belt states as bright red. Those states feel very strongly about this issue, and since they do not have the power in their own state legislature to illegalize it, they continue to make it a national issue, which means the candidate that is anti abortion gets their vote no matter what else they stand for.

If Roe V Wade is overturned, it becomes much less of an issue for them I think. Only a fraction of those now will really care if abortion is legal in New York, Illinois, and California. No- this abortion issue is an ace in the hole for Republicans. We don't want to lose it.
