So they let some people in earlier, but only on the day of their appointment. We will be in Boston for other reasons a week or so before the appointment so I was planning on going by the office so we would know where it is. I was hoping that we may get lucky and have the biometrics done early. Oh well, gotta follow the rules.

Just an update for those who are going through Boston, we went to the Application Support Center about a week early as I had other business in Boston. We went in the building and I asked if was possible to get the biometrics done early and they said yes, they weren't too busy! I must say that all the employees we encountered were friendly and helpful. While my wife was getting her fingerprints and photo done, the security person even came over to me and asked if we were all set. A most positive experience with USCIS for a change. :)

There was no security check until you entered the building, they let you keep your cell phone with you in the waiting area, they just asked that the applicant not bring a phone into the area where the biometrics were done. I was quite surprised by the relaxed atmosphere.
