You have a Honda so leave it on overdrive. Yes it does save you gas. Their transmissions are designed to cater for most driving conditions.

Actually, overdrive off is more useful when going DOWN mountains. It will help keep your brakes from getting so hot that they don't work any longer. (We got a LOT of those when I lived in Wyoming)

When driving UP a mountain, it's unlikely that your overdrive would even engage, since the engine has to have almost no load on it for OD to engage.

The "overdrive" isn't even a gear, actually. It's a lock-up clutch inside the torque converter of your transmission. Unless you have a manual transmission, of course. In which case, you kinda have complete control over when and if OD is used.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
