Gaurav,

I husband got his police station PCC without any problems.. He showed the DS-230 cover letter, I-130 receipt notice and approval notice. Filled up an application and got the PCC within one week's time.. In which area are you talking about ? Is it in Ahmedabad ??

Gaurav my wife just got her pcc less then 2 weeks ago, a'bad passport office requires the following:

Local PCC

copy of the $400 IV fee bill

and they need the copy of the missing doc list that you get from NVC... just send those in and she will get it in no time.

my wife had a local agent near Anand side and the agent mailed all the doc's to a'bad and she received the PCC through mail.

I personally didn't have to submit anything to require PCC but then I do think rules are a bit different in Gujurat.

I just wanted to know, how long did it take for you guys, Bani and Yoke to obtain the PCC, it took me almost 1 month to obtain because the office out here in Andaman did everything by the rule book, that is sending a officer at my home and asking tons of questions and then him making a report on me, things like that.

getting a PCC is different in every state and it would depend on the passport office on how they process it,for my wife she got her pcc from surat and it was all done in 15 days. even for local pcc from police station in Navsari.

Slient,

For my husband to get a local police certificate took around 15 days.. He went and submitted the application, fees and showed necessary documents. Officer told, we will call you when everything is done. He went and signed in front of the main police officer and got the PCC from police station.. That's it... Bani :star:

for my wife it took around 7 days to get the pcc. first she had to get it from the local police station (even though she didnt need it cuz her passport is less then 6 mnts old but a'bad passport office requied local pcc as well) once she had the local pcc (which took 2 days n bribe was 500 -/ rps. she had a local agent mail everything to a'bad passport office n she received that passport pcc in 3 days in the mail. for some reason a'bad passport office does not give out PCC on the same day.. they will only mail it to the address that's listed on the bio page of the passport.

Anyone have any experience up in J&K? (I'm doing a K1) Right now my SO is estimating months to get the PCC. He enquired yesterday but it appears that the people he spoke with were not sure what he needed. We are still awaiting Packet 3 from the Embassy in New Delhi. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Too late to edit...but can the PCC be requested by mail/fax/phone??? Anything other than in person? Due to various jobs/school he's resided in a couple of cities more than 6 months since the age of 16 and I think there may be an issue in having him literally go from city to city to get the certs.

It has to be done in person to get the PCC, and you can email the embassy how many pcc will be needed.

Does he need to request them in person and also pick them up in person - or can he travel to the cities, make the requests, and have them couried/mailed?

This police cert thing is maddening!

cs, since u r from ahmedabad, i am assuming ur consulate will be mumbai. Please review this link for detailed info on PCC requirements for u:

http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivpolicecertificates.html

basically if ur spouse's passport was issued within the last 6 months, then they dont need a PCC from the local police station. what they will need is a PCC from the local passport office. if it has been past 6 months then he/she will need both. hope that answers ur question.
