CFO seminar used to be a specified requirement for fiancee's/fiance and spouses of foreigners. I tried locating that entry but it seems DFA has removed that as requirement already (which is good since CFO is already a requirement before you can leave the Philippines anyway.)

This are the only requirement required by DFA for married person now:

REQUIREMENTS FOR RENEWAL OF PASSPORT

For married women, who want to use surname of their spouse:

Personal Appearance is required

Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper issued by NSO or CTC issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.

it is the same requirement for first time applicants and there is no additional or any other special CFO requirements for fiancee/fiancee and/or spouses of foreigners now. Try contacting DFA office nearest you just to be sure.

As for your other question on whether it is ok to send your passport under your maiden name for DS230, I am sorry but I do not know the answer since we are under K1. I hope someone who took the CR1/IR1 route could help you.

Good luck and God bless.

Just to add, the newly revised Philippine passport application form (back portion) also removed the CFO requirement. Check here: http://www.dfa.gov.ph/consular/form-ppt-page2.pdf

I hope I was able to help. Good luck again and God bless.

So there's no need now to present CFO certificate to change maiden name to married name in passport for those spouses of foreign nationals?

I think the name on DS230 must be the same with the one used on the G-325 and also must be the same on the current passport. That's from what I understand on my readings.

DFA will ask you to show them your CFO Certificate and will get a photocopy of it before you can renew your passport (if you are married to a foreigner).

Thank you oOpinkOo, I called the Dept. of Foreign Affairs here, DFA-CDO, the person who answered said, CFO is still required when changing maiden name to married name for filipino spouses married to foreign nationals. The term he used was that it belong to "special cases." According to him, what was written on the new form is the requirements only for the regular filipino applicants. So CFO is still required when married to foreign nationals, the old list of requirements is clearer though and not confusing.

Has to be done anyway so why not just go ahead and do the CFO seminar and get it out of the way. Better than waiting until the last second as "sometimes" CFO can delay departures requesting additional evidence.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Yeah I will go ahead and get it over and done with :star: . Just surprised they didn't include it in the list anymore.

when i changed my passport to my married name, DFA required me to have the CFO seminar. Their info on the website (www.dfa.gov.ph) is only for Filipinas married to nonforeigners, which IMO they should edit/add the info for those married to foreigners.

Anyway, you also need the CFO seminar (one of the requirements when you leave PI)

btw, i'm newbie here though have been lurking around for so long, i must admit i learned a lot from here but i decided to create my account so whenever i have some questions i can easily ask to you :)

Girl, you're husband is a naturalized US Citizen. You still need the CFO seminar in order to change your passport.

When I attended the CFO seminar, I encountered a Filipina who's married to a naturalized US Citizen (Pinoy). We have same "main" reason why we were in that seminar--to change the passport to married name.

So in short, you really need to go to CFO seminar. Actually, girl, you will need it when you are about to leave the country.
