I read a post about someone who referred to himself or herself as a half-breed, and it made me ponder, what is the best way to describe a child who is half Filipino heritage, and half white American? I certainly would not tell someone he is a half-breed, and a Filipino-American is a Pinoy who is now an American. Thoughts? Maybe Amrinoy, I think Mestizo is just used in the Philippines, is it best to just say American or something that shows pride in his entire heritage?

Nakabasa ako ng post ditto na sinasabi niya na siya ay half-breed, at akoy nakapag-isip, anu kaya ang pinaka mabuting diskripsiyun mo sa isang pinoy at isang pinoy na may lahi (half American)? Fil-Am, Fil-American, Filipino-American, or simply American.

I would not use half-breed on anyone. It sounds like we're describing dogs.

In Hawaii you are either brown [local]or white [haole]. No one cares much about 1/4, 1/2 or even what race you are. Occasionally you will hear someone called "happa haole" which means part Hawaiianl!

As for the OP's question: I would prefer Fil-Am better than be called half breed.

i often read vj so i think that "someone" you are referring is me!!! :lol: :lol: i do termed it as half-breed but as what people say Fil-am is the common word for half filipino and half american!!!!
