Besides knowing when to be quiet and just hold someone because he or she is having a bad time, there are times when silent moments speak volumes. For example there is the serene, unspoken sense of completion that follows making love. As you lie quietly together, the gentlest caress is a major message. Even on nights when you simply go to bed to sleep, there is a time in which you rest without words, as the day ends.

Many couples can travel silently down the highway, confident that they don't have to speak to feel warmly about each other's presence. Those of you who attend religious services may touch each other softly as you ponder what is taking place. There is a special form of sharing in sitting or kneeling in a pew with someone you love.

Keeping silent means holding your tongue when a sarcastic comment is about to come out. Loving someone often includes keeping your mouth shut, whether it is letting your partner vent without interrupting or avoiding saying something critical or judgemental.

part of being a great romantic partner is knowing when not to speak.

Bonding happens in all sorts of ways. Knowing what to say is important, but so is knowing when to stay quiet.

One other way to let silence become part of your romantic portfolio occurs when you sit quietly and put the one you love directly in your thoughts. As you ponder his or her face, voice, touch, and endearing qualities, you'll be in a moment when there is affection in your heart even while you are separated. In can happen in a car, in your living room, or anywhere that it is possible to take a few minutes to savor the fact that someone has captured your heart. It's a great way to end the day or to calm down when you're troubled or angry.

Have a great day! God bless you all ;)

Reading your post, I remembered one of my favorite passage.

When we hold our tongues and listen, we communicate our care

For an open ear speaks volume, to a heart that's in despair... (L)
