EAD renewal while waiting for AOS decision

Can anyone help me with the details of this situation?

1. Should I renew my EAD which expires in 5 weeks? How long does a EAD renewal take to process?

*Had my interview at the Charlotte, NC field office for my AOS and was issued a RFE which was submitted 4 weeks ago

2. How long has it taken for others to recieve their AOS after thier interview and/or RFE after an interview?

I am scared to death that a stupid mistake I made on my second physical will result in denial and deportation. I did all I could do to correct it in my RFE package and just have been waiting since then. Going somewhat crazy with the uncertainy, really not doing that well.

Renewal EAD takes just as long as the initial - about 90 days. I would get that application out as already you are going to have a gap in employment eligibility.

Are you working? Does your employer know/care that your EAD is expiring? My bad attitude would be saying "if they can't complete my AOS in a years time then it's their problem and I am willing to take the risk..." but that's easy for me to say. Also remember that working even without an EAD is forgiven at the time of adjustment.

A lot depends on what your employer knows and expects and if you are willing to take the (very slight) risk.
