John McCain volunteers his wife for a topless (and sometimes bottomless) beauty pageant

What I see is people trying to make this out to be more than it was. McCain wasn't serious, it was a joke. Whether it was at his wife's expense? I doubt it, but it might have been.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I don't see a problem with it. Taste is subjective. I happen to agree with their taste in these regards. They're married to each other, not everyone else.

Some people are simply getting their panties twisted over it and pulling a FOX News-style character assassination that would be done of Obama.

When you are running for President, you are married to everyone else.

Of course I would assume that you are correct. I am sure he was joking. But I have to admit I would have been ticked if my husband had made a joke like that. But that is me.

The media has taken jabs at Michelle Obama throughout the campaign; but at least her husband does not want to parade her as a Hooters girl. Unlike this idiot.

Weren't some folks having a filed day with the whole "don't mess with my wife" bit a couple of months back? I'd say that's a heck of a lot more classy than pandering for biker votes. It could be just me, though.

I think it's just you hermano --- don't you know joking about your wife entering a b00bie contest is a reflection of your strong character and ability to lead? Not to say what you really think of women's rights and all that jazz. Sheesh Mavi, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Not to say what you really think of women's rights and all that jazz.

If a woman wants to show her body to the world, it isn't a question of women's rights unless she's deprived of the choice.

We can go well before the "don't mess with my wife" bit to Bill Clinton's incident on top of it.

That Monica is a girl that sure knows how to get her rights doesn't she.

You'd be surprised how many women use her method to get "ahead" in life.

Surprised, No. Disgusted? Yes.

I got thinking about this thread. So lets say you were contemplating who to vote for. And lets say he was serious about his wife flashing her boobies to the world, and he rather enjoyed that. Would that influence your vote for or against him? Or would it have no impact one way or the other?

If he can balance the budget, provide Americans with decent health care like most other first world countries, and prevent this country from partaking in these sort of ridiculous wars we're involved in now, his hobbies, or fetishes, or personal likes/dislikes mean nothing to me. Doesn't matter which intern is under his desk, doesn't matter who's titties he's staring at, doesn't matter if he does his own dirty business with himself covered in oil.

Just because he's the President doesn't mean he loses the same rights we all have. If any company we worked for were eavesdropping into our personal lives and telling us not to go to strip bars, there'd be a fight. But we must know what the President is staring at or where he puts his ding dong? Simply doesn't seem fair to me.

Valid points, he has the right to stare at whatever titties he wants. But the voters also have rights.

Any other thoughts, or has everyone signed off for the evening? I am curious on other opinions.

Dangit... woman... stfu and fix all of us a sandwich! J/K!

I guess some people are just fine with making light of things that have been quite representative of millenia of inequalities. Maybe it makes it easier for them to cope, yes?

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

In recent times, women have certainly figured out how to use leverage of their own.

But I agree things could still use some evening up.
