Hi...

My husband and i are kind of worried about me missing the biometrics appointment.

This coming Tuesday im leaving for Florida to visit my mom and as we went through

the timelines of the other vjer's who filed almost the same time we did they are

already getting their biometrics appointment around August 10-15 (within that range).

I won't be back till August 16th :(

We are really confused as what to do?

1) Should we write the USCIS and ask for a re-scheduling (even though we haven't

actually gotten the letter?)

2) Should we go to the ASC nearest us and tell them about our dilemma?

3) Should we wait for the Biometric appointment before we do anything?

4) Is it possible for me to get my biometrics in Florida if re-schedulling it

means delays?

Please...please help us.

Thank you and more power!

Unless the fellow VJ'ers you are looking at are going through the same District Office / ASC that you are, you may be worrying for nothing.

Most offices give you a decent chunk of time between letter and appointment.

There are a lot of offices that will not allow walk-ins without the letter, or before your appointment. I do know that when I got my biometrics letter, they gave alternative dates if I was unable to make the appointment.

Slight correction on my previous posting- I do believe it is the service center and not the actual local office that schedules the original appointment.

I don't see why they wouldn't send you an appointment letter without ample notice.

I do know that when I went for my Biometrics- they were really nice. It was in the same office as where I went for the AOS interview- but it was a different division. Their job was only to take your picture and prints. They didn't know anything about the immigration process and I don't think they cared to know.

Hello Mike and Peewee,

When my wife got her biometrics appointment they gave her about 2 weeks to show up. Also, they gave her the opportunity to change to a later date. As someone else said, if you HAVE the letter they will take you early, even tho they don't want to. The biometrics people in Birmingham like playing God. They had no one in the office but didn't want to give service to my wife either. You shouldn't have problems with going to FL. The first time she got her biometrics letter we were out of the country and was told by my sister-in-law that it came. We called and let them know we were out of country and wouldn't get back for 3 more weeks and they told us to just bring the letter into the office when we got back into country and they would give us service. They did it but, gave us a bunch of hassles. So, if you could have someone monitor your mailbox and let you know, then you can take action if it does come while you are in FL. Good luck. David

It's not about "playing God" but due process. When it comes to the District Offices, it's definitely first come, first serve, wait your turn, no jumping in line (for the most part).

My husband will be home to monitor the mailbox and yes :) we're both
