I am on permenant disability, I have a monthly income of 787$. I live with my brother and contribute to the family. Will the combined "household income" satisfy the "affidavit of support". My brother will also sign an affidavit of support for my fiance. I fear they may reject my ability to properly support my fiance.

Alaska fan,

I'm not quite understanding what you mean by the "combined household income".

You fill out an affidavit and your co-sponsor does as well. As long as your co-sponsor (assuming your embassy allows co-sponsors) meets the criteria then you don't have aproblem. I am a full-time student and have no source of income and my fiance's visa was just approved.

This same question has been asked billions of times. Although the situations are different, the general question is the same.

Good luck bud!

The answer tends to vary by Consulate. Guangzhou will accept a co-sponsor and for a K1 visa, you and your brother each fill out separate I-134s and provide separate documentation. One of you must qualify based on their own income.

Later, for AOS, you can combine income using the I-864 for you and I-864a for each other income earner in the household. The household size will be different now than then in that you don't count on your brother's I-134 unless he's claiming you as a dependant on his tax return. Only, he, his dependants and your fiance count. Later the full household including you is counted.

Be aware that at the Consulate/interview stage the Consular officer is making a somewhat subjective judgment on both the bona fides of your relationship and whether your fiance is likely to become a public charge. It will be good if your brother has substancial income.
