Hi all,

I received my AOS fee bills for the two IVs applied for but we have decided to just use the K3 and deal with all involved with that. Do I just ignore the new packages received from NVC or will I need to contact them about this in any way?

thanks,

Stephen

YES  you ignore the CR-1 paperwork from NVC.

Keep in mind, getting green-card may be quicker from doing the CR-1/IR-1 process through NVC verses adjusting from K-3, it is also less expensive over all.

K-3:

I-130: $355

I-129F: NONE

Consulate: $131

AOS: $1010

($1496)

CR-1

I-130: $355

NVC I-864: $70

NVC Visa fee: $400 ($355+$45)

($825)

NOTE: K-3 cannot, take a job, apply for SSN, or apply for a driver's license until they have EAD, or green-card, EAD can take 90 days or more to get. CR-1 gets green-card upon entry to the USA.

Compare timelines: K-3 was originally developed at a time when the Immigrant CR-1/IR-1 was taking a very long time, this is just not the case any more, NVC has streamlined many processes.

Many pay the NVC fees and keep both going through the system, and postpone the K-3 interview slighly if the CR-1 passes through NVC fairly quickly, if CR-1 reaches consulate at the time of K-3 interview, the consulate will drop K-3 in favor of the CR-1.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Absolutely, I think you should take advantage of the CR1 route that the NVC is processing right now unless a CR1 visa appointment will take forever and a day to schedule with the embassy.

Thank you folks...I'm still considering persuing the IV still but life has not slowed down enough to warrant it up to now. May give it a try tonight, paying the AOS fee online if possible.

Sorry, I cannot find the "edit" button for some reason....

Time is a very impotant factor in our case, as is money (LOL like its not for anyone else! ...) anyway, so I have to ask this....

If I persue the IVs, WHEN is the IV fee paid? Is this paid AFTER her interview or before?? I would HATE to pay this fee and then lose all this money by going with the K visa because the interview is scheduled earlier....please help??

I hope this makes sense, lemme know if I need to clarify my question.

PS ~ I got my invoice numbers to pay online just now! YAY!
