How long does it take to approve NoA2?

Hi,

First of all, I just want to say i am so glad to have found out about this site!

My fiance has been asking me everyday "is our case approved yet?" and all I can say to her is "no".

We have been waiting too long, about 141 days now, why is that some get the approval faster? Is it because they have attorneys? I myself dont have one because I can't afford to hire one. I actually paid $200 consultation from this popular attorney just to find out how would i be gettin my fiance here in states. And that consultation lasted just 5 minutes and I felt disappointed because i felt i have not learned anything new..Then they call me that our case is about $11000. WoW! i said ahhmm no way! im a working student who barely makes enough money! but im so glad to have find this site! this has helped me prepare and learned things i never would have known.

Anyway, we're just so tired of waiting...Is there anything I can do to speed up our process? Can i call anyone to bug and annoy them about our case and ask for a speedy approval? I'm afraid if i do call and bug them, they'll just put our case all the way to the last making it longer..huhu..

I rili want to call whoever im suppose to call about our case but Im clueless, what would i say and do to help our case approve sooner? anyway any response would help! thank you!

Hi Matchbox,

Our NOA2 was around 5 months and 10 days after NOA1. It really depends. Others who had theirs filed at Vermont were mostly less than that.

Hiring a lawyer does not guarantee of an early NOA2. We hired a lawyer too, but for me, it was a waste of money. As long as your case is not complicated and if you follow the VJ guide, you'll be ok. I know better than the lawyer regarding the Philippine setting through this site. Wished I found this before we filed.

Good luck :)

Hi Rem,

Welcome to VJ! Glad you found this website. VJ is a great tool for you in your K1 journey.

As most VJers know, VSC approves application faster compared to CSC. There are applicants from VSC who were approved in just a month or two. CSC normally approves in 4 months or so. Ours was approved 127 days from receipt of our application.

I agree with ez2007 about hiring an attorney. It's a waste of time and money. You can do the whole process all by yourself and your fiancee. I've read posts here who hired lawyers and majority regretted for doing so. We also have a couple-friend who hired a lawyer to do the process. Like others, they regretted about it. The good thing about doing this all by yourself is that you can personally make follow-ups of your case directly to the involved offices. Unlike having a lawyer, aside from paying them that much, all you can do is wait a word from them.

We have successfully made our K1 journey through this website. Keep yourself posted here. When you have questions, feel free to ask. A bunch of people who have undergone the process will be there to answer your concerns.

If we will base your timeline if you filed in CSC, looks like your approval is on the way. I hope for the best that there is no problem with the papers you submitted. It's not 6 months yet from the date your application was received. Keep the faith. Keep VJ updated of your case.

Good luck and God bless your visa journey!

hello matchbox, there is a lot of stories here who hired lawyers and their case was messed up by the lawyer so lawyers do not make the process any faster. we didn't hire lawyer, we found this site before filing and followed the guides here and we were approved without problem.

you could check the processing times and immigration timelines here for a good idea on the average processing time. but it is a case to case basis. here is a Q&A with a former USCIS adjudicator: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...dicator-q-and-a

this will give you an idea how they process the petitions.

just be patient, your approval may come soon since they are approving february filers from CSC already.. check igor's list for the latest approvals (only for members of this site): http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/igor/vjdata/default.aspx

Good luck and God bless.

Every case is different from each other, so it's really hard to make a rough guess about your question in your subject. But one thing is for sure, you will hear the good news the time you are not expecting it. Good luck and welcome here. :)

Thank you all! Thanks for the welcome! I feel very welcome already!

I see many are having their NOA2 now, Im rili hapi for them, that means we may be getting ours soon too, but yeah i guess its better not to expect or think about it soo much, or we might get paranoid over it. I know our time will come! Patience is all we need..but not too long eh..hehe..

Good Luck to all of us..

I wish I could have sent my case to VSC instead of CSC if I have known it would be faster there. Well I have search thru web and found some agency who are not attorneys but helped me guide thru K1 Visa Process, but for a price $$$.. :crying::bonk:

try this, hope this will help for u to feel better. hubby called last friday and the lafy said " wait for your notice in about 2 weeks if not call back" well it make me feel a littl better. so we will waiting for it now. anyway good luck. call them . and let us know ok.

Call 800-375-5283, then hit 1,2,2,4,2,1; enter your receipt number; hit 1,1. (There is no need to wait for all of the recorded options to be read before you hit these buttons.) The recording will almost certainly say that "additional evidence is required," but don't necessarily believe it.

When the phone rings, you should be speaking with an actual Immigration Officer (not a clueless front-line screener who can tell you only what you already know). If the recording said that "additional evidence is required," ask the ImmOff exactly this: "Why does the recording say that I have a Request For Evidence?" He/she will almost certainly tell you that there's no record of an RFE; thank him/her profusely.

Then (or first), ask exactly this: "Will you please tell me exactly where in the Division my file is?" He/she will tell you. Then say exactly this: "I'm aware that several files received after mine have already been approved, and the USCIS website clearly says 'we process applications in the order we receive them.' Will you please send an e-mail to the floor, and ask the person at the ____ station [whatever the ImmOff told you] to please hand-carry the file to the next station?"

The ImmOff will appreciate your "speaking the language," because it is so different from the usual plaintive "do something!" that they hear all day, every day. The e-mail should at least cause one of the processors on the floor to handle your file, and your record on the USCIS Case Status website may soon reflect a "touch."

I more or less followed these instructions. I did select the phone system options that he suggested, but I didn't try to "speak the ImmOff's language". I also didn't imply that I thought there was an RFE for my petition. To me, that's just being dishonest. In the end, I didn't get any information (as the OP suggested I would) at all. I don't know if the touch was a result of my call or not. But, I doubt that it hurt anything. If you do call, it will be interesting to see if you get a touch.

Good luck to you!

unfortunately, uscis doesnt normally entertain follow up calls if your case is still within their timeframe.

i got my noa2 from CSC after 4 months... some get their approvals earlier or later... some even get rfe's. it really depends.

i hope you'll get your noa2 really soon! yup i agree, VJ is a great website. im glad i found this too. goodluck again! :luv:
