I just got my I-751 form set up and sent it off to the Nebraska Service Center on July 5th. We sent it certified and this is what we got as an update from the post office on the 7th-

Status: Forwarded

Your item was forwarded to a different address at 8:47 AM on July 7, 2008 in LINCOLN, NE 68501. This was because of forwarding instructions or because the address or ZIP Code on the label was incorrect. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

I know that the address was correct because I wrote the address off our envelope onto the certified mail receipt exactly as I saw it, and we double checked that against the uscis website and it was accurate.

Anybody else have this happen to them yet? Anybody have any thoughts on it?

Don't worry - everything is happening exactly the way it should. A few weeks ago USCIS announced that Texas and Nebraska would no longer be processing I-751 applications. Applications submitted to Texas are being forwarded to Vermont, and applications submitted to Nebraska are being forwarded to California. Since USCIS hasn't completely updated all of the relevant information areas they are not yet requiring initial submission to the appropriate service center but are forwarding the ones sent to the previously accepted Service Centers to their new correct processing center. The important part of the notice that you received is this: This was because of forwarding instructions and not the second part that says it could have been a wrong address.

California is actually a good place to be. It is currently taking between 4 to 6 months to process I-751 applications. Vermont is taking between 12 to 15 months.

You should soon receive a notification that it has arrived in California.
