My fiance and I finally received our visa on July 1st. We were smiling, happy, and everything finally looked like it was going to be OK. He bought his ticket to come here July 30th, and I can hardly wait as it is. Then disaster struck. About a week after our official approval, my fiance sheepishly contacts me to let me know that cologne spilled inside his bag while he was visiting his parents. Unfortunately, his passport was in there, and now it's clearly stained. All of the information is intact, but we were already nervous about him passing the port of entry as it was.

All attempts to contact the Australian consulate have been in vain. Email is not being answered, and tracking down the correct number for a good department to help him has not been successful. Even then, his work hours mean he is never available to call the consulate. Does anyone know if water damage is something to be so concerned about? We just want him to be able to pass through L.A. withought being man-handled and shipped back.

I would appreciate any advice or personal experiences at all. :(

If he can not contact the consulate by phone or email, maybe he can go directly to the consulate and ask. It will be better to ask now and find the solutions early on than after he had boarded the plane and return.

Just a thought..Goodluck!

I'd definitely contact the consulate. It says in your timeline that he will enter the US on July 30. Maybe he can apply for a temporary passport and have the US consulate re-issue the visa.

I hope everything will work out fine.

In every difficulty lies an island of opportunity.
