Deb has he appointment on July 3 at 0830. Just wondering if anyone else from VJ was going that morning. If you go, Deb will be the blonde with the "deer in the headlights" look and the terrible case of the shakes. Sorry that I can't be there with her but I have to work. Maybe someone else from VJ can try to calm her down!

Aww I'm going July 10th. I know how she feels, I am so incredibly nervous too, even though I feel confident it will all go well! Glen can't come with me either, he has to work but I can't wait for this part to be over!

It will be fine for both Deb and Jill. Just keep your eye on the prize (being together finally), and it will be fine. They are very nice in Montreal, they really are.

Yea, they are really nice!!

I was really nervous the night before and waiting outside the building the morning of the interview. But once you go through those doors, it all happens pretty fast with a few minutes of waiting for the elevator and for the actual interview. Just try to breath and take in the beautiful view!

Good luck everyone!

I thought the staff were nice and professional when I went. Security dude were pretty monotone, but hey, I dont want security dudes to be buddy buddy, I want them doing their job,lol If ya have questions for them, don't be afraid to ask, unless its something about bringing over your prized marijuana plant! best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

All went smoothly for Deb's interview - she is approved! she should be in the States in 3 weeks.

The only strange thing was they asked for a police report done in her married name (she's been divorced for some time now). It never crossed our minds to do this, especially since Deb never changed her name after she got married. The interviewer had to go and check with a superior as to whether it still had to be done and the final decision was it did not need to be done provided she had not changed her name when married AND that she would swear to such (which she did).

Don't know if this has come up before
