Hey Everyone I'm new here just trying to find out some information since I feel like our lawyer isn't doing his job on answering any of our questions. I have been married since November of 07.. I met my hubby at work we dated for a little over a year, and decided that we wanted to spend the rest of our lifes together. Our relationship was not very public because he was a manager where we worked and we weren't allowed to date or else we could lose our jobs. Anyways I wasn't really aware of his immigration issues going on.. he kind of told me about it, and told me that his judge had denied renewing his green card.. I guess he had been going to court for years already and had just kept appealing the case.. we were married during this time. So from his lawyers advice he said for my hubby to do a voluntary departure. So before he did this we filed the i-130[?], and in the meantime my hubby left back to Mexico in march. So I ended up going to the interview a few days ago.... I have never been married, so I don't even understand fully what all is going on, and I would like to understand it more hopefully with your guys help/advice. So our wedding was very small only a couple of our friends went to be witness. It was more like for us to elope just because we love eachother and wanted to be together.. plus we didn't have money for a fancy wedding, but we plan to have something nice when he gets back so everyone can go. I don't know maybe I made a mistake not inviting my family because it seemed like at the interview he kept bringing that up. He asked how we met, how long we dated, if we had sex.. which were pretty basic questions so that went pretty smoothly... then he asked me if I felt forced into getting married to him because we worked together, and he asked me if he offered me money for his papers.. etc. Of course the answer to all of those were no... I brought some pictures of us we don't have a lot .. neither of us are really picture people but the ones I had from when we got married were on our computer that crashed so I didn't have those.. I brought a copy of our bank account we have together, my ID with our address on it, and some bills I get with our address on it. I also brought a bunch of calling cards that I use to call him, and letters from friends and family stating they are aware of our marriage, and that we are living together and a receipt of my plane ticket to go see him in July.... So after that he said he would mail a letter if it was approved or not.. now since I went to the interview alone is that why they didn't tell me when I was there if it was approved? I'm pretty confused... and what if it is denied then what happens next? I hope not because this distance is really killing me now.. It's really hard to be away from him, and I just want this to be over with.. please any advice would be wonderful. Thanks for your time, and sorry this was super long..... ;)

it sounds to me like they are doing to you what they are doing to me. They sent my case to the Cincinnati field office for an interview. I have not had mine yet. But what they want there is to see if you have a legitimate marriage. Did your husband enter the United States Legally? If so he could ahve adjusted his status here in the US without leaving for Mexico. What did you enter on your I-130? That he would be adjusting status here in the US or that he would go to the Consulate in Mexico for the interview?

They will notify you on whether your case is approved from the local office. I think they may not have told you right away because they wanted to verify a few things before they approve or deny it. **** This is my opinion, not an actual reasoning***** I think you will be fine, they just want to verify a few things first.
