Is there any chance I could bring my 2 brothers with me for our wedding by using tourist visas?

We just got notified thru email of NOA2 yesterday. My parents couldn't come, both of my big brothers are single but they have kids already...one just got an annulment. Is it really worth the try or just a waste of money and time?

IF they can prove strong ties to the Philippines, then they will most probably be able to get a tourist visa. Proving strong ties though can be difficult especially for someone who is single. I have a cousin who is single, has a very good job plus a small business on the side, substantial savings but, because she is single her application for a tourist visa was denied. Sometimes one can never tell what the consul will think as sufficiently strong ties. There is always a chance that they will be approved. Just hard to tell how much their chances are for approval.

My attorney told me that petitioning for a family member, even on a tourists' Visa, can leave the interviewer with skepticism concerning the true intentions of the beneficiary.

In other words, the interviewer may ask more difficult questions or even deny the Visa if they think you are using your fiance only to bring your family to the U.S.

I'm not saying that it will happen, but I understand why the interviewer might think that way.

Hey Alizeyah,

So thats you on the billboard! Cute ;)

I have a cousin whos there in the States under K1 as well, 3 of the family members including her mom were denied. The two (one single and one married) mentioned staying with their sister and the mom reasoned out visiting her since she misses her so much. Even if they did not have plans of overstaying, they were still denied. The CO said to my aunt that 2 years of not seeing her is not a reason to give her a visa (what a jerk).

I suggest you let your two brothers apply prior to your interview, this way the reason can be just plain vacation. Better if you have relatives they can stay with just in case they ask. Cos if its a vacation and you have no relatives, they might ask for a hotel booking. Cos I doubt the possibility if they will tell CO that they will attend your wedding, unless (like what others say) they have strong ties in the Philippines.

Thanks Moshmosh...really appreciate your story. I've been reading threads about tourist visa and yeah, they really need to prove they have strong ties here. It's really risky and you need 99% luck. Thanks again :)
