Travel Warning For Vacationers

I wanted to post this in case anyone was going on vacation soon in Florida.

I-75 is closed near the Ellenton, Florida area. That is near Sarasota and Bradenton. South of Tampa.

If you are taking I-75 from out of state or North Florida down all the way to places like Fort Myers or Naples, you can't anymore. They say it could take weeks to fix. You will have to take detours of you go that way, which is not a good idea. A tanker crashed over the side of an overpass Wednesday and burned under I-75, severely damaging the highway.

So find another route, or you will be in big trouble!

We've had a major highway closed since January.....it's is horribly inconvenient with no end in sight.

I'm sure Florida vacationers will thank you.

Is US-41 a "viable" alternative in the affected area?

(note--by "viable", I only mean that it isn't closed)

I think all the roads down there will be really crowded, but 41 isn't closed. Are you heading down there Sri? You'd have to decide when to get on 41 off of the highway area and then when to get back on 75.
