Documents for NVC

I have a couple of questions regarding the documents that have to be sent to the NVC:

I understand that they have to be the orginals that are sent into NVC but there are a couple of other things I do not know. For my wife they would be her birth certificate, police clearance from Buenos Aires and Lima, Peru and our Marriage certificate from Argentina.

1. The question that I have is, do the documents have to be legalized or Apostille? Or just the original certified documents?

2. Do they have to be traslated to be sent to the NVC? Because website says only if they are not in English or the language of the country where the interview is.

3. Maybe someone from Peru could answer this one: For the police certificate from Lima, On the website for reciprocity of documents, (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3649.html), it says that we only need one Police Certificate for use in Buenos Aires, Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales. But on the US Embassy in Lima website, for interviews in Lima, it says that you need 3 different certificates. So for sending the Certificates to the NVC, would I just need to send the one or all three?

Thanks

1. The documents only have to be original copies from the appropriate issuing govt. agencies.

2. We were also confused by this question and just translated ours anyway to be safe.

3. If you ever lived in Peru past the age of 16, you need the 3 different certificates. If you lived in another country past 16, you need theirs as well.

Well, she lived in Lima until she was in her mid 20's then has lived in Buenos Aires for the last 6 years. But when I emailed the Embassy in Buenos Aires to ask if they needed all three Police certificates, they said, no they just needed the one. This is why I was wondering if I would need to send all three of these to the NVC or just the one that is used at the Embassy in Buenos Aires.

Her father already has the one, and is working on getting getting the other two just in case. My issue is: my I-130 and I-129F were both approved last week and both have been forwarded to the NVC. So I am thinking about pursuing both and see if I can get the I-130 approved before my wife is ready to travel. But now we would need to get two copies of all of the documents.

But even if it got approved after her K3 was approved and she was in the US, we could just travel back to Buenos Aires for the CR1 interview, and that would be much faster than doing AOS. And also cheaper.

The documents should be originals or certified copies issued by the issuing authority, not by a public notary. If it is appointment post, they don't need translations, just find below the NVC guides for your local consulate. If it is appointment post it will say that it won't be necessary to submit documents to translations when they are in english or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made.

Regarding Police Certificates people from Peru will be able to answer precisely.

Good Luck!

Just for everyones info, This info about the translations is correct. I just got off of the phone with NVC and they said the same thing. The translations are not needed if they are in english or the language of the country in which the embassy is where you will interview.
