Old Philippine Passports?

Hello All,

I talked to a friend today in the Fils.She ask me if heard anything about the Embassy refusing to accept the old passports even though they are still valid.Anyone know anything about this?I'm trying to help her out using our vast collective info base.She is not as well versed in these things as I am,haha Thanks for any input.

DFA here says it is still valid but i read in the news that they do require or ask for authenticated or certified true copy of the passport.

I couldn't find it but I thought the passport had to be valid past a certain date. For example, you have to have 6 months left on the passport before it expires before they can give you a visa.

Check on this if you're getting close to your passport expiring.

The USEM requires that the passport should be valid for at least 6 months at the time of the medical/interview so if it is otherwise, advice your friend to renew it before her medical and interview schedule.

That's probably a RUMORS spreading that "green" passports are not accepted anymore because of the new "maroon readable passports".

Fact is, old green passports are still accepted as long it has validity of at least 6 months or if its less than that better to have it renewed.

Mine is green and they St. Lukes and USEM still accepted it.

Current holders of valid Philippine passports (green passport that has not expired), need not worry as the green passports will still be honored as a bonafide travel document issued by the Government of the Philippines until its date of expiry, even after the roll out of the new machine readable passports.

I think that is her problem:rumors about the green passports since they have gone to machine readable maroon ones. I will make sure to advise her to renew it if it is anywhere near a year out from expiring since she and her hubby are at the AOS/IV fee stage right now and he is doing everything "snailmail".Thanks!!
