Wall*E in L.A.

Pffft. I'm not impressed. Steve Guttenberg invented one of these in 1986, right after he invented the printing press.

My initial reaction was the same but Wall*E is suppose to look old and clunky. The story is really good - minimal dialogue and it's a love story between two robots - very cute. Pixar likes to focus on story and I think this one lives up to their reputation as it will appeal to a very wide audience. The guy who designed Eve (right) is the guy who designed the iPod.

I'm just going for a cheap laugh! Wall*E appears to be a functioning robot whereas Number 5 from Short Circuit was Hervé Villechaize from Fantasy Island dressed up in a robot suit.

I was wondering about the paint job though. I figured it had something to do with the story line.

Here's one of the trailers.

I gotta be me. I have problems with the fire extinguisher scene. How long do they hold a charge and how much force do they exert? I guess I have to chalk it up to Ed Wood's suspension of disbelief!

I just looked at the video again and read the comments. There's some really good ones! I'm not the only one drawing reference to Short Circuit (no big surprise there).

I'll also amend my statement about it being fully functional. Obviously someone is controlling it.
