I am totally overwhelmed by grief these days.

Anger, frustration, helplessness. I am going nuts.

No it's not about North Narolina primary results . It's about Burma.

For days, i have not been able to get in touch with folks in Yangon . Finally, I got word that close relatives are alive .

But I see these images daily and news of the Burmese regime's intransigence in letting in international disaster expert teams.

At least they have allowed US military planes bringing in relief supplies to land on Monday.

Knowing that there are problems between international NGOs and governmental disaster relief teams are in a stalemate over visas, a team of expatriate Burmese physicians belonging to a worldwide network of burmeses doctors AMIM, have gone back to arrange their own relief that is so urgently in need.

they'll start with Yangon former capital and then fan out to their local networks to the delta area which is the hardest hit.

I invite those who want to donate to the disaster to go here

Myanmar Cyclone Relief Fund

Children who were victims of the cyclone. from Burmese website

I read on these vernacular websites that families tied themselves together to windstand the wind but many got blown away.

For me it's just too much to bear. :crying:

UNICEF, World Vision DECT

They are all traditional international NGOs that have done great work over the years.

Presently, in burma the issue is the junta does not want foreigners and their groups roaming around the country. They are control freaks . So what the regime is saying is just give us the material and money we'll take care of the rest. That's what the haggling is over between INGOs and the regime.

The AMIM team knows the locals and their own network and they hope to get the stuff reaching to where needed using that local knowledge. There are also Burmese docs inside working for the UNICEF World Vision etc. so the aim is to expedite things where possible.
