We haven't received any touches, notifications, etc. since 12/24/07 when we got our NOA1's for the I485 packet. We got the AP and EAD in the first part of Feb. Granted, we are in the Dallas office and they are WAY behind.

How can you tell if you are in Name Check?

My wife is from the Philippines, but she was working as a nurse in Qatar. Qatar is over by Saudi Arabia (and she worked there for several years before she went to Qatar.) I actually met her when she was in Qatar. I realize that with all of the "problems" we have over there, that maybe this has flagged us for the FBI Name Check list.

I've been thinking about this for a while (due to seeing several Arabs pulled out of line at the airport to be physically searched) and would like your opinion.

Is there any way of telling if you are in Name Check oblivion?

Thanks!

Contacts for Name Check

Hi all,

My husband and I just attended our AOS I-485 interview last Thursday, 9/20, for K-3 visa adjustment to Permanent Resident status. We were told our case was already approved, however, it was pending the FBI name check to be completed before they can send out the Welcome letter/ GC. We investigated how to get NC status from FBI, and found the numbers listed below. But before you get too excited, we want to let you know after trying the first line highlighted below, we got transferred to a recording which says, "FBI no longer provides status by phone, fax, or mail. For more information please visit our website address at: http://www.fbi.gov/page2/nationalnamecheck.htm "

The website page definitely sheds some light on the whole NC process, but really leaves you with no alternative but contacting USCIS for status. While the regular USCIS Customer Service Rep's don't have the computer access level to give status of Name Checks, you can request to speak with an Immigration Officer, and they DO have the computer access level to look up NC status for you. We have had success with this twice, so wanted to share our experience with others. Successful journey to all...

Everyone goes through namecheck and common workflow is for it to be ordered shortly after your NOA.
