Hi!

I have plan to change my family name to my husband's family name. should I do it before filing I-751? Could you please suggest me how to do it? How long would it take? Will it be efftected to my new green card? For filing I-751, do we have to do it by mail or in person? Thank you very much.:) P.S.I got my first green card on July 22.

Yes you can put your 'new' name on the form and then your 'old' name as 'other names used'. Your greencard will then have the 'new' name. You need to mail the I751 in. Good Luck

So is that true. That is what we did, and hoping that it doesn't cause any problems, but was wondering if you know of someone or yourself who have done that and it has worked for. Main reason why is because we are going to be applying for Naturalization before our I-751 is approved, and wanted to know what name the Green Card was under.

Thanks,
