What is up with the Hydro car? What exactly needs to happen to get this thing going?

You need to make Platinum and Palladium about 2 cents an ounce. Perhaps we can get it from the moon. I have a few ounces in coins from the US Mint, they are very nice.

In the BMW video, it is liquid hydrogen. Liquid hydrogen exists in vapor form in normal atmospheric pressure. However, because of the method used to maintain the pressure need to have hydrogen in liquid form, a special pump is used as well as the storage tank.

When the hydrogen is sent to the engine via fuel line, the valve and the rythm of the spark plug is used to control the ignition, and exhaust. When ignited, the valve opens and release the water vapor into rear to the mufler. Hence, the water vapor.

This is 100% possible, and can be implemented. The problem is obtaining the hydrogen. It requires more energy to get the hydrogen from water using electrolysis. It requires time, and patience. It's not feasible in an economic standpoint due to the great cost in extracting hydrogen from water. Current research is about finding methods to lower the cost of manufacturing hydrogen.

Among Thomas' techniques is "pulse and glide" in which he accelerates and then coasts with the engine off until around 15 mph when he kicks the engine back on and accelerates again. "It's the automotive equivalent of skateboarding," he said.

Despite it being funny, it is true.

Why is that funny? I've been using this technique for years - it does save you a lot of gas.

Do you have power steering? This technique would probably work better with a stick than an automatic. It seems like dropping the clutch in a higher gear to turn the engine back over would be preferable to the potential wear on the starter.

Yep - this works best with a stick.
