Has anyone visited their fiance in the U.S.

My fiance wants to come see me in June and by that time he should already have packet 3 received and hopefully returned to them. What I'm concerned about is the question asking if you have been denied entry to the U.S. That's not happened yet but if it does happen this time (praying it doesn't) I know that it will definitely be brought up at the interview. I assume they would obviously see that the dates on packet 3 would be previous to his attempted trip and if he is denied entry he can just explain that to them at the interview and be ok?

I would go see him in Canada but there is just no way for me to work that out, unfortunately. :(

I swear there is not one thing in this entire process that doesn't stress me out. :(

Good luck:)

Well because it will be 3 months since we've seen one another and then apparently there's at least a 4 month wait for an interview in Montreal. It's just extremely hard to have to wait that long to see him again :(

So you've been going across since packet 3 with no problems so far, Buttons?

Oh I just saw, you've not actually sent in Packet 3 yet, though, have you? That's the part I'm wondering about.

It is hard to wait, you can always gave it a go, i went over to the US for 3 months while the visa was processing and i was fine, as long as you have strong links to your home country you should be ok, BUT there are no definate outcomes.

Hi there, just wanted to add my 2 cents. My fiance and I are at the same place as you and have been waiting since March 2nd for our interview date. So I got a letter from my employer and gave it a try. And after a few questions they did allow me to cross the border. Just be honost at the border. The lady I was interviewed by was very glad I had brought along all my visa info. I had my orginal 129 F copy and my packet 3 from Montreal. I came into the States on the first of May with a letter stating I was expected back to work on the 22nd of May. So in my opinion go for it. And even if they deny you entry it won't effect your K1 visa process. It's worth a try. This few weeks visit is just what we needed to help us through the last hopefully few months of this seemingly never ending process.

Hi, Freda. If you don't mind me asking...what kind of questions did she ask you? Just to give an idea of what he can expect. He doesn't have a copy of the I129 form. I have all that but if he gets packet 3 before he leaves then he'll have that.

Thanks

I would recommend that you verify this with your local Immigration office. I discussed somewhat a similar question for myself and my fiance when we were opting for a spouse visa. The officer advised they would look at both our passports for entry/exit into the country during our final interview in London. The legal way would be to apply for an advance parole to grant him travel approval. Sorry more waiting but the timelines shouldn't be as long. This is why we opted for the K-1 fiance visa which is a shorter wait. If you can I would just wait and hang in there. You both are so close to the end. Hang in there. Regards ABBIE1265.

Hi Lyric.

I'm from the UK but here is my opinion anyway :) . If I were your fiance I would definately go. From my experience as long as you have your documents stating that you have a K1 visa pending & can also show some proof that you'll be returning home (however, when I went they didn't ask to see any of the latter) this should be plenty. They just want to be sure that on this particular visit you're fiance is not going to run off & marry you & lets face it, that prospect is highly unlikey when you've already been approved for a visa. The last time I went to USA to see my fiance was April & I showed them a printout of the current status of our application (which was still at NOA1 stage) & that was enough; he asked me a couple of simple questions & sent me on my way.

Just be completely HONEST, they appreciate that. When I travelled prior to that, in January, to see my fiance I knew nothing about a fiance visa. When questioned I was completely honest & told them about my intentions to eventually marry my fiance. I was kept behind & missed my connecting flight but after they called my fiance & found that our stories matched (we didn't intend to get married for some months) I was eventually let go & told that I must obtain a K1 visa or next time I wouldn't be allowed back in :crying: . So, we applied & had no trouble after that :) . Fingers crossed it stays the same.

All the best

Hey Lyric, I'll try and remember it step by step but I was so nervous, when I stopped at the border the guy asked me where I was heading and I told him then he asked the purpose of the visit and I told him to visit my fiance. He asked if I was employed in Canada and I said yes and told him I have a letter from my employer and asked if he wanted to see it. He then said yes and asked me to go park and come inside. There I saw a young lady ( with the same last name as my fiances) and she looked at the letter and asked a few questions about why my parents were travelling with me if I wasn't getting married this time and I explained that we wanted our parents to met before the wedding. Then there were alot of questions regarding our son but as soon as she saw his birth certificate with his father's name (my fiance on it she was fine). She had a few more questions about what point in the visa process we were and I started pulling out papers from my file folder. She looked over the cover letter we received from Montreal with the packet 3 and asked a few more questions about my 2 daughters from a previous marriage that were listed on it just general like who they were to me and where they were and if they were coming to the US with me when I come to stay. Then she had a few more questions about our son whom we haven't gotten a US birth certificate for yet and who she thought should have one since his dad is American. I explained why he didn't have it yet and she went to her computer tapped away fro a bit then came back and looked at a chart of some sort taped on the desk, asked me to write down my fiances address and name then did a bit more tapping on the computer and handed me back all paper work and said have a great visit. All in all it was maybe 15 to 20 minutes just seemed to me like hours because I was so scared they'd not let me in. But as far as I can remember that was it. She did thank me for bringing along all the visa paper work and commented how most people don't and she has to deny them entry because she can't be sure they are actually in the process. So be sure to bring everything you have. I had my complete copy of the I-129F, the NOA's and my copy of the packet 3 from Montreal I made a photo copy of the checklist and stuff before I sent it in. They may not ask for any of it but I sure was glad I had it. I am so glad I took the chance it's wonderful to be together. And hopefully I'll get an interview letter while I am here or shortly after I get home and in a couple months I'll be back to stay. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have an approved VISA, and I am still crossing to visit my fiance every couple of weeks, so that I can keep working here until the week beforer the wedding.

I have crossed the border about 30 times since starting this process, and nobody has said boo to me about it. I have gone during every stage. While awaiting NOA2, While awaiting Package 3, while awaiting my interview, and now with an approved VISA, waiting for the wedding. I tell them that my fiance is in the USA, and that I am going through the k-1 VISA process like a good little girl... Just going for a VISIT. I cross at the Peace Arch border near Vancouver, and drive to my fiance's place. No problems. Sometimes they asked if I have a job to go back to, and I show them a letter from my employeer saying that I am scheduled to work until the first week of June... and they say have a good trip!

One more question, do you think that a copy of the NOA2 and if he has a copy of his Packet 3 letter will be enough for them as far as showing proof that we ARE in the middle of the K-1 process and not planning on screwing it up by getting married or him staying illegally this next trip. He'll have proof of ties as well with him. Thanks for the input.

Lyric, All the border officer looked at was the letter that was in the packet 3 attached to the checklist. I had all the rest with me and started pulling it out but, that and the letter from my emloyer was all she really read the rest she just glanced at. In our case I have two daughters from a previous marriage listed on the letter and my fiance and my son. So she did ask about them and want to see our sons birth certificate since I was taking him from one country to another just to make sure he was actually the USC fiance's son and I wasn't trying to take him from one country to another with out the other parents consent. Hope that helps.
