I was wondering if anyone knows if it is something they ask about if my fiance doesnt have an engagement ring. Has anyone not had one and gone through the interview, and did they say anything. I want to get my fiance something nice but something nice would have to wait. I have spent all my money on all this K1 visa stuff and if possible would rather wait a little to get her something nice instead of just buying something so cheap right now so I can tell the consulate she has a ring.

I cannot say by experience, but I have never seen were any fiancees were asked to show an engagement ring. Many spouses in the Manila area only have wedding bands, so I would not place too much emphasis on a ring during the interview. Showing proof of being together and an ongoing relationship is more important.

(we were already married when we filed)

when we initially submitted our i130 and had a bit of a dramatic initial questioning session, the interviewer asked why she didnt have her ring on but i did. Very simple answer. "well we were in a hurry and i didnt put it on after i showered." she was asked "u take your ring off when you shower?." She replied "yea, what do you do with your ring and is that really any of your business?"

interviewing officer was a bit taken aback, and rightfully so. There are some legitimate questions and some that are plain stupid.

rings are symbolic. Some people make a big deal about and to others it dosent matter at all. As far as i am concerned, an engagement ring will eventually be replaced by the wedding ring,, so why care at all about the first ring when something better is coming later. In our case. our actual wedding rings were hand carved by people we were working with in Kenya. Actual street value of the rings are less than one dollar each. True value is not able to be measured as they are a symbol of our relationship.

seems like all the money some people spend on rings that are stupidly expensive, could be much better spent on life expences and costs that are assoociated with the process. Of course for some people the money is not an issue but for the rest of us...........

Hi,

I think , if i were the consul i wont ask her about the engagement ring, as i know she can wear any ring. What is important are the documentation she will bring on the interview.

Don't worry so much about the ring, if she is worried, tell her to wear a temporary ring when she go to her interview. :D

Good luck..

Engagement ring is not important in the interview..and the consul didnot ask about ring.. the very important is she have all the documents ready what ever the consul asking with her.
