7 million people can't all be wrong.

Never having been there, I can't speak to SF in particular, but I do know that groupthink is a real problem in many parts of this country. So, I'd easily say that 7 million people - and possibly many more - can certainly be wrong. :P

One of the best movie lines ever.....

"A person is smart. People are stupid."

MiB. :)

A large group of people who are controlled and fed controlled and/or misleading information can be wrong. E.g., Nazi Germany, China, North Korea. 7 million people who are independent minded and simply want to live their lives in the way they choose are not mislead or wrong. And contrary to popular belief, San Francisco isn't all free love and ####### sex in the streets. San Francisco encompasses a range of people and cultures and political views. It's definitely a more "liberal" city than, for example, Kansas City, but it's also a lot more diverse than Kansas City. Some of the most conservative people I know have been to San Francisco and loved it. Every city has its share of silliness, and SF is no different. But (once again) sweeping judgments do not reflect reality.

nevermind

Since we're getting quasi-political here, I'll drop this one in for thought....

Today, the city of Cincinnati announced that construction should be halted on a new multi-million dollar riverfront development (hotels, upscale housing, shopping, nightlife, etc.) that's been hotly debated for the last, oh, five years or so, because now that they've got it going and it's finally happening, nobody included provisions for low-income housing to be included in the deal.

The city's metro housing authority (CMHA) said no one realized the potential for federal funds to be included in the project if low-income units were added and now the project should be halted until they figure out if it is indeed possible to include low-income units.

#######???

(Meanwhile, the city of Newport, Kentucky, right across the river, built a shopping and night life center about five years ago when Cincinnati started arguing about it and since then, they've been on the receiving end of about 66% of Cincinnati's entertainment dollar. Where's the other 33% you ask? Not in Cincinnati. Indiana decided to build riverboat casinos a long time ago and our money's steadily been going that way ever since. 66+33 is only 99, so I guess Cincinnati does get to retain some of it's own money. Oh, now I get it! Maybe that's why we need low-income housing! Sorry. Forget I posted this.)

Edited: I did forget about our "professional" sports teams, the Reds and Bengals. Maybe we get to keep 2%. I don't know. Most of that was covered by a Stadium Tax and all that jazz already so really we're just paying more money to keep our "professional" teams here. They sure do generate a lot of revenue. Especially when all those Pittsburgh fans come to town for the football games and Wrigleyville South turns our stadium blue. Gotta love hometown pride!
