This might be a long shot, but I figured it was worth a try....

My fiance arrived here in NYC about two weeks ago and is currently looking for work.

His English isn't so hot, so I am trying to find him a job within an Italian or Albanian (he is fluent in both) Construction Company.

He has lots of experience and his resume is ready to go. If anyone has any useful information, please pm me. We live in Brooklyn, but anywhere in the NY metro area would work.

Thanks,

Susie

Hmmm... i don't know, BlueSusie,

but i have thought the same thing myself for my habib... IF he gets a visa, inchallah.

i guess what i would do is just have your husband stop and ask whenever he sees guys working on the street, and goodness knows there are enough of them around. word of mouth might get you a long way. it's worth a try. and don't rule out any construction company... those guys are Italian, Polish, Brasilian, Russian, Latinos... all working together... somehow they all learn one another's languages and they all know what they are talking about. even if it is just a temp job or a day shift, you never know what it can turn into.

will you let me know if you uncover anything? i can file it away for future reference for my own situation.

good luck! (F) (F)

Also, just as i'm thinking:

Craig's List has listings for workers in the General Labor category...

Again, they are not the good Union jobs and usually short-term, but at least it's something to get your sweetie out of the house and earning...

Good luck!
