Hello Everyone,

Today I took my wife to the InfoPass and was hoping to find out why it's taking so long for her GC to arrive since she was approved by an IO 2 months ago. To our surprise, the lady told us the case was "approved but not completed." What the ... She said, "Sometimes, IO didn't click the right button. So the case was never picked up. Therefore the green card was never ordered." "So what do we do," I asked. "We need to get the case back and have someone to fix it," the lady said. (Get it back from where?! We were interviewed right here in the same building :bonk: Hello!) "I cannot fix it because there's only so much we can do here," the lady continued. "How long it's going to take," we asked. "It's going to take a while," the lady said. "Because it's probably gonna take a few weeks for the file to come back...then a few weeks for someone to correct it," the lady explained. "Can I renew my EAD if it's been several weeks and I still don't receive the GC," my wife asked. "No. You will not be able to renew EAD because your case is being corrected." the lady answered. (Gosh, this is just GRATE  ) "Listen, we can't do much because you don't even have an approval letter. That's why it's important to have something in writing if an IO said he or she is going to approve you," the lady started to get irritated. (Something in writing?! :bonk: very few IO would even bother to give u green card Stamp, and you're telling me should've something in writing from IO?! Ridiculous) "Are we supposed to get some kind of receipt or print out," I asked. "No. Just make another InfoPass appointment and come back if you don't receive GC," she said

This is really frustrating. I called the 800# so many times and none of them ever told us something like this but just to wait. Now this lady found out something from the screen but refuse to give me any print out. You just never know what's really heappening  I hope we will have some good news soon :innocent:

We're in the exact same boat except you acted a little faster than we did. My wife's interview was 11/29 we received approval and then started to wait. Worse was we could never check our case status online, our receipt number never showed up. I just figured I'd give them 10 weeks since our interviewing officer told us it could take 10 weeks. We have a trip planned over the summer so I explained to the IO that when my wife was approved they took her I-94 and effectively stranded her here.

The officer was really nice and explained that when the file is approved it is sent off to the national records center so has to be sent back before she can fix it in the system or give us a stamp if we still want one. She told us to give her 10 days.

Two weeks almost to the day of our infopass her receipt number showed up in the system, a week later (this was last week) we received the welcome letter. Last thursday we got an email saying card production ordered.

So don't worry, I think they'll fix it. Way I saw it was it's far better for all this to be happening here at home than if we were still overseas waiting to come home.
