Anyone in here doing CR1 for HCM? Maybe we can help each other out. I have a few questions about CR1. NVC sent me a letter telling me that my case was forwarded to HCM on Jan. 31. I called HCM Consulate and asked them to see if they've recieve it yet. They told me they have my case already but haven't recieve the paper-work yet. My question is how long does it takes before they get the paperwork and how long until my wife get an interview letter?

thanks all for helping

Cuong, congrats on your completion at NVC.

I'm also doing CR-1, but I'm well behind you. I've a question for you, though. While submiting your DS-230 at NVC, did you send only DS-230 Part I with signature and a copy of the biographic passport page? The reason I asked is that HCMC just switches to Appointment Post and probably requires me to send more required documents:

  • Form DS-230 Part I and Part II
  • Birth certificate of the beneficiary
    • Certified copy of birth certificate
    • Photocopy of birth certificate
    • Translation of birth certificate
  • Marriage certificate
    • Original marriage certificate
    • Photocopy of marriage certificate
    • Translation of marriage certificate
  • Police certificate of the beneficiary
    • Original police certificate
    • Photocopy of police certificate
    • Translation of police certificate
  • Photocopy of valid passport biographic data page of the beneficiary
  • Two 2x2 inches passport photographs of the beneficiary
Good luck on your case at cousulate level and I'll be sure to follow your case 'til that pink slip.

On a second thought, if HCMC just switches to Appointment Post, then NVC will schedule the interviews for CR/IR cases at HCMC. NVC will send the paperworks to consulate when they have open date for medical/interview for that month. Normally, NVC scheduling for the interview takes place the second or third week of the month. So, start calling NVC at at 1-603-334-0700 and see if they have you for March/April interviewing period.

Lastly, have you tried to call Department of States yet? I know some folks call DOS rather than the US Embassy/Consulate. DOS coordinates posts all over the world and they have all info regarding interviewing dates, approvals, denials. Call Dept of State Visa Office at 202-663-1225 on M-F 8:30 am-5:30 pm, then press 1 (to go to main menu) then 0 (to speak to Visa specialist) then 0 ....

That's all I can help. Keep us posted.

Hey,

Sorry it took me a lil while to answer ur question. When I did my DS-230 I only turned in DS-230 part 1 and the signature with my wife's passport.

It took my paperwork about 3 weeks to make its way to HCMC after it was complete at NVC. From the time HCMC got the paperwork until the interview it was about 2 months.

I only sent in a copy of Tuyen's Passport and Part 1.

I hope your cases go smoother than mine. Good Luck.
