Receipt date vs. Notice date

My green card expired on Oct 31, 2007. I was just looking over my NOA and the receipt date is Oct 30, 2007 but the Notice date is November 2, 2007. I filed 5 days before the card expired. So which date matters? Does anybody else have notice with the date after the expiration of their old green card? I don't want to be a 'freak' but I hope I don't have any problems when filing N-400, for being 'out of the loop' for couple of days.

You were never "out of status" because your I-751 application was received before your green card expired. The notice date is just an indication of how long it takes USCIS to get a letter out of their office.

I was also late in the 90-day window with my wife's application and had similar dates to yours relative to the green card expiration.

Thank you, I am glad someone else did the same thing. Surprisingly or not really, when I called USCIS they told me that I should refer to the Notice date for everything but they “don’t think my N400' will be an issue“. Don't know what to think anymore, but they received it on time so I hope that is what matters.
