I can't seem to find on USCIS site the processing times for Naturalization. If I apply on July 29, 2008, how long would it take on average? Thanks...

Susan.

I will be applying around the same time Susan and I also would be grateful if anyone has any idea how long it might take. I tried looking it up but it seemed to vary enormously from what USCIS claims and from people's time lines.

Susan.

I doubt that anyone can predict "average" processing times for some months to come, susan. the surge of applications in sun=mmer 2007 has left backlogs which may be very slow to clear in some districts.

Before the summer 2007 surge it was taking around 7 months from start to finish in nearly all districts. Things have changed, and it's unlikely the backlogs will be all clear by July 2009, although things will be better than at present.

I applied 26 July 2007 and am still waiting to be called for interview, along with most others from that time, even after interview there'll be a wait for the oath ceremony which will likely take me well over a year's waiting time start to finish. In some districts things are moving more quickly though, and USCIS are supposed to be trying to improve their processing times.

As a guess, I'd say people applying this July could estimate perhaps 9 months to complete - but that is a wild guess. The only way to get a clear idea is to watch message boards, and your particular District Office's performance (not Service Center).
