I have a favor to ask...it will only take a minute. For all you dog lovers this is about 101 wire fox terriers that had been rescued from deplorable conditions just outside Montreal, Canada. Some of those wires were put down because of the condition they were in. Jounalists responding to the story were vomitting at the scene- the house they came from was condemed and knocked down- that says a lot.

The person, Marc Andre LaPorte who was responsible for these dogs was recently tried by Canadian courts and found guilty of animal cruelty- he faces a slap on the hand with a mere $4000 fine and a few days in jail. As hidious as this is- the worse is that he has requested that 18 of those dogs be returned to him, On Feb. 22, 2008 (just a week away) he will be sentenced. At the same hearing, the judge is to decide if Laporte is to get any of his fox terriers back!

These dogs are learning to be real dogs- some of these dogs lost their eyes because they had never seen daylight and now they are learning to be part of families- learning to eat, learning to be touched and learning how to be loved. Now they may be taken from these wonderful new homes and placed back in the house of horrors they were rescued from. Imagine making these dogs go back- imagine being one of the families who have had to rehabilitate a dog only to have it taken from you to be put back to horror.

A remarkable friend of mine has spearheaded a writing campaign to the judge and a petition asking that no dogs be returned to this monster. The goal is 10,000 signatures- we still need just 286 signatures.

PLEASE TAKE JUST A MINUTE TO SIGN THIS PETITION and if you are so inclined, please pass this on to your friends and ask them to join us.
