OLD NSO copy...not accepted?

Hi,

I requested last Jan. 11 from census.gov.ph for my son's NSO birth certificate

and my own NSO birth cert. too. The thing is, it's been 2 weeks and upon

checking online it says there that my request is still being processed.

Now, im wondering if my old NSO issued birth certificates for me and my

son will be accepted? I got this last 2001. Im confused coz ive heard some

people say that NSO that is presented to the embassy should be issued within

the last 6 mths. The information in the Birth certificate will not likely to change...

so why do i have to get the latest?

Hoping for replies.

BIRTH CERTIFICATE: Each visa applicant must have a birth certificate issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on security paper. Copies are needed for principal applicants and derivative family members and petitioners who were born in the Philippines. You may call the NSO Information Center at (02)-737-1111 or visit their e-census webpage to inquire about how to secure a birth certificate. If the NSO does not have a copy of the birth certificate, you must obtain a statement about its unavailability from the NSO and a certified birth certificate from the local registrar in the town where you were born.

Nothing about an older one not being accepted.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

in phil situation it is most likely to get a newer version of bc. that's what ive always heard/read in forums... its easy to just go to the nso office and get it there to be sure. some says they have to wait in line but in my case i got it in an hr or less than an hr. went there early morning and requested my bc/cenomar a week before my interview... good luck! hope things will work out with you

If you are near to any NSO Serbilis Center/Station, it is more advisable to get it there, and you can get the copies in few hours and won't even take the whole day. And request for more than 1 copy as you may need it for future use. Good Luck.

The more important documents to have that are no more than 6 months old are the CENOMAR and the NBI clearance.

Hi, if you are in P.i still, i suggest that u just make time to go and file personally to the NSO office than requesting online. You know how MANY (Not all though) gov't employees here just sitting and waiting for their break time.. :innocent: correct me if im wrong?

if you don't like to fall in long line, try the NSO makati its alot shorter than in main. although i don't know where you are located in P.i., :innocent:

You still have more than a month before your interview so why not work on getting a latest copy of birth certificates? It's not that they will not accept an old copy at USEM, but won't you feel so much comfortable knowing that your government-issued documents are all latest? Don't take the chance of using it. Follow what others have said... You have come this far and you wouldn't want to jeopardize everything and be put to AR (God forbid) just because you didn't have an up to date documents.

^^ i agree with mae. if you live in makati or anywhere near, i suggest you visit their local NSO office. depending on what time you arrive, you can get your certificates in an hour's time. longest waiting time would be 2 hours. if you want to wait for your online purchase, i suggest you pay the document verification fee this early, so Delbros can do it for you and they could have it on file with the USEM in time for your interview.

as to your original question, on the validity of old certificates, if it isn't printed on the NSO Security Paper, i'm afraid it won't do.
