Well guy's, this is the question. How long can a security check take? Some where between November 2007 and January of this year our case moved from the dreaded A/P into security check's . I called the FBI in Washington D.C. in a attempt to find out if progress had been made with the finger print portion of these checks. I was told they dont have his finger prints. They also said they dont recieve all the finger prints for checking. They said there are other agencies that do this also. Which ones could this be? Could it be Eygpt doing them? Or Interpole? How long can security take anyway? Any ideas? Wondering, Debbie

Wow Deb,

That is a loaded question. I think the answer is whenever the visa is in hand, you know for sure you have it. Until this time, don't count on anything. At least that seems to be what I have learned from this process.

Ok, here is how my simple mind thinks. If your application is in administrative processing for a year, it would be a wise choice to devote time to get the security checks finished, and the administrative processing done on the case before moving on to another case. From the way the visa's are handed out, this does not seem to be what is happening. It would be interesting to know about the interviews our SO's had, who interviewed them, and compare to see if certain Egyptian Embassy Consulate Officers approve cases faster than their coworkers. Sometimes the journey makes no sense. It really doesn't matter how long it takes, because we are at the mercy of the Egyptian Embassy and their decisions.

Hope the security checks are completed soon.

Thinking of you,

Sue
