Hi all:

Is blue a good thing or bad? The blue slip looks generic and all intructions are translated to Vietnamese except for one paragraph re: timeline of relationship is not translated to Vietnamese, why? They ask for 1)timeline of relationship in detailed story and 2) proof of purchase of airline tickets--paid by cash or credit card? I compared mine and my friend who was interviewd by the same CO, we both got same instructions.

Anyone out there has any expirences re: blue slip, please help/share.

Gracias!

Hi,

According to what I've read in other posts, blue slip is bad and pink slip is good. Blue slip usually ask you for more evidence.

In this case, I think they want you to describe your relationship in more details for (1). For (2), I think you should provide them with credit card or bank statement showing the transaction made for buying the plane ticket.

Vietamese Americans and Vietnames are closely related, in some cases very close. There is a high level of fraud at the HCMC Consulate so they are very careful. If you were introduced by a relative to each other, the Consulate wants to know if there's another reason than love for the two of you being together. Other factors are how long have you known each other? The longer you have been in a relationship, the better. The more evidence, ie trips to see each other, bank/credit card statements showing paid for trips, etc also makes the Consulate think your relationship is real.

While I'm a US born citizen, Thi does have two relatives in the US she has never met. In fact until about a month ago she didn't know she had any. They are daughthers of a second cousin. If I was Vietnamese American, that could cause interest from the Consulate even tho she has never met them. The birth certificates of your parents will give them a larger picture of how if at all you are related.

Once the Consulate has your parent's birth cerificates, they may simply give her the visa, ask for more evidence (another blue slip), give you a green slip (means they want to study your case and that may mean it gets sent back to the USCIS or give her the visa). If you haven't already called to the Consulate, I would do so just so they know you want her to come. While I was waiting for Thi, I noticed most of the fiancees were alone or with thier family not their fiance. I think that also has a lot to do with it. Don't be one who just sends the paper, let the Consulate know you care aobut her.

I agree with PeterFB. I plan on being with my Finace when she has her interview in HCMC. I am also going to give her my passport when she goes in for the interview.

She can show the CO that she has my passport, that I am with her in VN.

I was introduced to her by her sister who is also married to an american. I worked with her husband, and they also lived in the same apartment building. they have now returned to the state where they originally lived.

I documented / explained in detail how we were introduced (I asked her sister if she was single and if she would introduce me to her), how long we have been chatting, emailing, and calling (supported by chat logs, emails, and phone bills), and of course all the other evidence from my 38 day trip to VN, our engagement pictures, etc..

Thanks

The dates are on the Visa. The K-1 will be valid from the date of issue for 6 months. K-3 is valid for 24 months

However once she arrives in the US, the clock will start to tick for the 90 days that you have to get married. If you aren't married by then she will be out of status. If you are married and haven't filed AOS (I-485) within that period too, she will be out of status (illegal and able to be deported).

:) Thank you all for all of the congrats. We were very lucky the case went smooth and fast without lawyer's help. Plus I only went to Viet Nam one time, and we did not have an engagement party. But she presented many evidences at the interview, especially the hand-written letters counted a lot!!! The interview took at least 30 mins with only a few questions asked (5 or less), the CO and translator spent most of the time reading two hand-written letters in Vietnamese (my letters to my fiancee). There were too many letters I sent to her, but they only randomly chose to read two. The CO picked the long one (about 5-6 pages). They did not read the letters from my fiancee sent to me. There were many emails but they did not look at. So letters are better than emails.

Just a corrections: Our first slip given was blue (asking for timeline and evidence paid for airline tickets), and second slip was green, NOT BLUE, (asking for our parents' Birth Certs). Then we were approved right away after submitting the Birth Certs.

Hope all of you in AP will get PINKs asap. And good luck to all upcoming interviews. Again thanks all and best wishes!:)
