confusion on overall time to get visa

1 post in this topic

Hi... I'm confused :wacko:

My I-130 application has a received date of October 5, 2007, and a receipt date of January 9, 2008. If my case is an "average, normal" case, according to the USCIS Web site ....

USCIS processes applications in the order they are received by application type. Due to the significant increase in the number of applications filed, processing times have been affected. As a result, average processing times for certain application types filed after June 1, 2007, may become longer. For example:

  • Naturalization applications may take approximately 16-18 months to process;
  • Family-based adjustment of status applications may take 10-12 months; and
  • Immigrant petitions for relatives and workers may take 9-10 months.

SO.... Assuming all things are average (and I know, nothing is guaranteed lol) ... will I be looking at a completion of July 2008 (10 months from Oct 5) or November 2008 (10 months from Jan 9)? A CR-1 *is* an immigrant petition for relatives, right? And not naturalization? (gosh, I sound so stupid, but this is confusion! EEEEEE!)

thanks for your help
