I live in the city of Tijuana with my wife who is Mexican while we are waiting for her approval process (I-130) to complete. I had my job transfered to San Diego, so I commute daily across the border into the US. I did this so we can be together. I have a mailing address in the US but it is only a postal box that I rent (Not a PO Box). When I filed for my wife in October I filed with the address of my house where I no longer live. I need to notify USCIS, but will this cause any problems. Will they make us use our Tijuana address, since this is really where my wife and I are living.

Timeline:

August 31, 2007 Married in Guadalajara, Mexico

October 8, 2007 Mailed (I-130) Next Day FedEx to CSC

January 14, 2008 Received NOA1

YES, you can use your mailing address, I had to change my address with USCIS to a P.O. BOX as I was not getting mail from them at my home address for some stupid reason.

I changed the address with an operator back in October but it never actually went thru and I had a horrible scare with some missing paperwork...if things go missing they can be a nightmare so just be sure you notify them as soon as possible. If you decide to change your address over the phone get a confirmation number and get the name of the operator as well as their ID number.
