AOS case approved?? How soon to get green card

My wife and I had the AOS interview on April 20, 2006 at Portland, Oregon. The officer was very nice and friendly. The whole interview took about 20 minutes or less. She commented that this was a very clean case.

However, even though she knew that our I-130 case was approved two months ago, she had not received the file from the National Visa Center (our I-130 case was mistakenly transferred to NVC even though we were doing AOS.) As a result, she could not stamp on my wife's passport at the end of the interview.

With confusion, we asked a simple question: "Can we, or can we not go celebrate tonight?" She gave a definitive YES! She told us that she will send in a case transfer request and asked us to contact her in two months if we have not received the green card by then.

As you can imagine, our feeling was kind of mixed. Even though she said that our case was approved, we had nothing tangible (no stamp, no card.) We are just wondering for a case like this.

How long does it take to transfer a file and

how long does it take to get the card produced and mailed to us?

Thanks.

It shouldn't take too long, maybe a week. :D Congrats on the approval
